Here’s what to know about Tesla’s Cybertruck launch

Tesla’s Cybertruck is here.

The electric carmaker’s long-awaited entry into the pickup truck market rolled out of the company’s Austin factory Thursday — a historic moment, analysts say, for a vehicle that has seen its share of false starts.

The Cybertruck’s public profile has been marred by its inauspicious debut in a 2019 product demonstration, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk invited a customer to test the “unbreakable” glass by hurling a bowling ball at it, only to mutter a curse as the window shattered. In the four years since, the vehicle has seen repeated delays due to various supply chain pressures. Competition has also heated up, with Ford and Rivian beating Tesla to market with electric pickups of their own.
