Iran on Saturday accused Israel of carrying out a strike on the Syrian capital Damascus, which it said killed five Iranian military advisers and “a number of Syrian forces.” Tehran called the strike a “desperate attempt to spread instability” and added that it has the right to respond. The Israeli military declined to comment. The State Department confirmed the death of a U.S. civilian in the occupied West Bank on Friday, hours after National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said he was “seriously concerned” about reports of the death of a Palestinian American teenager there.
