Barbie Reunion 2024: Simu Liu hints possibility at People’s Choice Awards

Simu Liu is setting the bar for an upcoming Barbie cast reunion.

When the 2024 People’s Choice Awards event takes place this Sunday, February 18, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the emcee is hinting at a potential reunion with his co-stars from the biggest film of 2023.

“I would wager that we’ll see a couple people from the movie,” Liu says as per E! News. “I wanna leave a little bit to surprise as well.”

Given that Liu, Ryan Gosling, and Margot Robbie are all up for PCA nominations for their parts in Greta Gerwig’s highly regarded movie, that seems highly possible.

Liu also revealed that he would be performing I’m Just Ken, the Oscar-nominated Best Original Song, on stage with Ryan Gosling at this year’s Academy Awards.

“I’m in,” the 34-year-old said about the performance with Ryan Gosling. 

“He’s my guy. He’s an incredible singer. He’s got a voice, he can hit the notes. I think the Academy would be stupid not to invite him.”

Liu also teased another multi-nominated performer at this year’s ceremony, Taylor Swift.

Regretfully, Liu believes that fans shouldn’t hold high expectations for seeing the Grammy-winning artist at the performance.

“We’re a big Swiftie household,” he shared, adding of the Eras singer, “the thing is Taylor will be on tour at that time. She’s off to Australia for the next leg of her tour and then she’s got to do four shows there. So, we’re not expecting it, but what an incredible year for her.”
